Questions
The ones that actually come up.
Signing in
There is no password. Is that safe?
It is safer than a password for this. We email you a six digit code that lasts thirty minutes. There is nothing to reuse across sites, nothing to leak when some other company is breached, and nothing for you to remember. Your code is stored as a one way hash, so nobody here can read it back, not us and not anyone with the database.
The code has not arrived.
Check spam first. Press Send it again, which sends another one, and either code will work. If nothing arrives at all, the address may be blocking us, so try from a different address and tell us which one bounced.
I got locked out after too many tries.
The limit only counts codes nobody ever signed in with, and it clears on the hour. Signing in successfully resets it immediately.
Accounts and people
I run two companies.
They are two accounts. Whoever owns the second one adds your address to it, and a switcher appears at the top of the menu. Everything on every screen follows whichever one you are in, and Home always names it.
Can my accountant or bookkeeper get in?
Yes. Add them on the Account and people screen with their own email address. They sign in as themselves, and anything they record is stamped with their name, which is the point. Sharing one login would make the audit trail worthless.
Can I change my account name?
Yes, on the Account and people screen, if you own the account. It was named from your email address when you first signed in because there was nothing better to go on.
The tools
Will it tell me what I can claim?
No, and that is a deliberate line, not a missing feature. It records what you tell it, does the arithmetic on the numbers you supply, and produces the paperwork. Every judgement is yours or your accountant to make. Anything that guessed on your behalf would be worth less than nothing when it mattered.
Do the QR codes expire, or stop working if I stop paying?
The code you printed keeps working. If a module lapses you lose the screens for managing it, not the thing already stuck to a van. We will never turn printed codes that are already out in the world into dead ends over a billing problem.
I printed hundreds and then changed my website.
Change the destination on the code. That is the entire reason it works this way. Nothing needs reprinting.
Who can hear a sound wave code?
Anyone who scans it. There is no account and no password on the page it opens, because somebody holding a printed card has neither. Put a recording behind one only if you would be comfortable with it pinned to a noticeboard.
Where do my receipt photos live?
Outside the public web folder, on our server, reachable only through a link that checks your account first. A receipt photo of yours cannot be fetched by anybody else, guessed at, or found by a search engine.
How do I stop the monthly reminder?
Every one of them has a link at the bottom that stops them immediately, with no sign in and no reply needed. The same link turns them back on.
Will you email me anything else?
Sign in codes when you ask for one, and anything to do with your own account, such as being added to one. That is all.
